About The Event

A yoga retreat is a gift you give to yourself and one which sprinkles reflections onto your own true capacity to nurture yourself.  Life is precious and deserves to be lived and the Autumn Equinox calls us to balance.  As the earth turns away from the sun there is a shift towards darkness.  Equal night, the literal translation of equinox beckons us into the softening shadows and offers us respite from the striving nature of modern life.

Our venue provides an opportunity to glide into the oncoming season with gentle ease whilst fostering strength and recalibration through the unfolding nurture of body, mind and soul.  Steeped in the peaceful splendour of the Andalusian countryside you will find yourself transported into a land that stimulates restful awareness.  Surrounded by olive groves, flanked by majestic mountains the landscape inspires endless spaciousness.

The Cortijo, our retreat home, sits quietly unassuming amidst the backdrop of nature's splendour.  Offering a welcoming presence, from the moment you touch down, you will immediately feel at home.  The buildings emit a rural charm with comfortable yet unpretentious accommodation.  All rooms have private en-suite facilities and there are 2 stunning yoga practice spaces: an outdoor platform offering epic views of the landscape and a well equipped indoor studio from which you can watch the mesmerising sunrise.

The reteat will not only nourish you with soul fulfilling yoga practices but is also fully catered with vegetarian/vegan food.  Together we will enjoy brunch and supper created with love by our hosts and taken on the outdoor terrace .  There are communal indoor and outdoor spaces to connect with other guests but also plenty of space to relax, read a book, listen to music or just take in the revitalising clarity and peace of your surroundings.

The majestic pool is perfect for serious swimming enthusiasts or those who prefer to relax and float timelessley on a unicorn or flamingo inflatable!  Shaded areas with sun loungers surround the pool and provide shade from the blessings of the early Autumn sun.  There is also a tranquil meditation garden at  the centre of the Cortijo which invites gentle meandering between its measured borders and aromatic flowers.

The yoga offerings embody the theme of the Autumn Equinox as we balance light and shade with more dynamic flowing classes in the morning and quieter, introspective hatha/yin style practices in the evening.  All classes are carefully curated to inspire, elucidate and delicately scatter seeds of philosophical, mythological and physiological ideas into the mix so as to conjure a blend of stimulating and settling energetic experiences suitable for all. So regardless of whether you are a complete beginner to yoga or have years of practice, the classes will offer enticement to enquire into what balance means to you and how it can be embodiedand expressed through the ancient practice of yoga.

Mid week an excursion will be offered either to Granada (where you might choose to visit the Al Hambra Palace) or to nearby and very beautiful Iznajar with it's fabulous reservoir.   On this day there will be only one morning yoga class and you will have the opportunity to eat out at a local restaurant.  A yoga workshop with a speciifc theme will be offered during the week and a pool side kriya/meditation practice.

Importantly this retreat invites you to do as much or as little as you want.  The offerings are there for you, but you are under no pressure whatsoever to attend everything.
