COVID 19 POLICY STATEMENT up-dated 21st August 2020

To effectively ensure the safety of ALL parties please read the following statements outlining the procedures and practices which have been instigated at Yoga Avenue to minimise the risks posed by the virus Covid 19.  These requirements will help us to take care of each other and the wider community whilst continuing to enjoy the many physical and psychological benefits of a shared yoga practice.

By booking a class you consent to accept and comply with the conditions outlined below.  These will be updated in line with UK government advice so please check back regularly as well as monitoring the current situation yourself:

  

  1. Attendance at any in person class, both outdoor or in Yoga Avenue Studio or any external venue, is absolutely conditional upon you being fit and well.   It is at the discretion of the teacher to prohibit entry to anyone whom she deems may be unwell.

  2. You must bring to class your own equipment, yoga mat as a minimum + any props you wish to use.  Under NO circumstances should you use equipment belonging to Yoga Avenue unless agreed beforehand. 

  3. Please do not share any equipment or personal items with any other participants.

  4. Please do not bring anything to class which is not essential for your practice to minimise contact risks - a small bag to hold your valuables including phones is allowed in the studio.

  5. Arrive at class 5 minutes before start time.  If possible please wait in your car until entry time or if this is not possible observe 2m social distancing when waiting outside the venue.

  6. Classes must be booked and paid for online.   

CLEVEDON STUDIO

  1. ALL doors will be fully open 5 minutes before commencement of class - please do not touch any door handles or surfaces upon entry.  Or ruing the doorbell.

  2. No changing facilities are available and there will be no access to the toilet.

  3. Upon arrival at class walk straight through house to studio. 

  4. Prior to entering studio YOU MUST use the hands-free sanitiser positioned immediately outside the studio (Note if you are allergic to hand sanitiser let me know beforehand so alternative arrangements can be made.)  

  5. Wear flipflops or shoes which can be easily slipped off/on and leave these outside the studio.

  6. Position your mat acccording to the markers set out on the floor.  Remain on your mat throughout practice.

  7. Please restrict conversation with other participants and the teacher.

  8. Try to avoid touching your face.  It is suggested that long hair be tied back off your face to facilitate this.

  9. You may wear a mask to class if you wish to.

  10. Upon leaving the studio, pack up your equipment quietly, you will be offered the option to again sanitise your hands upon exit.  

  11. All doors will be opened by the teacher.  Exit directly through the house without touching any surfaces, please do no linger to chat to the teacher or other students.  If you have any questions about the class contact the teacher via email or messaging afterwards. 

  12. It is recommended that upon returning home you change out of your yoga clothing.

  13. Should you need to cough or sneeze during class then please do so into a tissue (a box will be available in the studio or you can bring your own).  If possible go outside and then use hand sanitiser before re-entering.

  14. A strict cleaning schedule will be in place at the studio.  All contactable surfaces will be throughly disnfected before and after each class. 

  15. The Studio door will remain either fully or partially open to facilitate air flow.  Breathing practices will be limited to those deemed safest to in light of the current situation.  Pranayama practices will be moderated to mitigate any risks associated with vapour transfer i.e. calm breathing through the nostrils only - no kaphalabati or bastrika.

  16. No hands on assists will be offered by the teacher, instead individual verbal guidance will be given where relevant.

  17. Please note that some in person classes may also be offered online.  In this event you are asked to avoid touching any of the equipment used to provide the online facility or to engage with partcipants attending via this forum.

ONLINE ATTENDANCE AT IN PERSON CLASSES

  1. You may join the class using the zoom code 15 minutes before the scheduled start time.  

  2. Please mute your microphone upon entry.  It is suggested you have your camera on during the class.

  3. Should you have any technical diffculties during the class please note that it will not be possible for the teacher to address these as this would impact on the distancing requirements being observed in the Studio.  Please do not unmute your microphone to speak to the teacher during the class unless there is an emergency.

  4. At the end of the class you will be asked to exit the meeting from your device.

  5. In the event of technical failure which is not caused by your own equipment or connection a substitute class will be offered free of charge.  Should your participation be impacted by the failure of your own equipment or connection then you will be able to, where possible, receive the recording of the class.  In the event that the class you attended has not been recorded you will be offered access to another pre-recorded class of the approrpiate style and level.

  6. No refunds can be issued for booked classes which result in your not being able to participate fully unless the interruption or cessation has been caused directly by Yoga Avenue.

PARK CLASSES & OUTDOOR VENUES

  1. Please observe social distancing when waiting for the class to commence​

  2. You must bring your own equipment.  

  3. Hands should be throrougly washed prior to attending and after class.  If this is not possible then personal hand sanitiser is recommended, you should provide your own.

  4. The risks associate with outdoor yoga are deemed to be less than those in indoor venues, however it's still vital that we observe the social distancing recommendations as this will enable everyone to relax and enjoy the clas fully.

CLASSES HELD AT COMMUNITY VENUES - TICKENHAM VILLAGE HALL & YATTON SCHOOL 

  1. Class sizes will be limited to 10 + the teacher.

  2. Bookings will be online only.  Owing to the reduced number cancellations are only possible if a waiting list participant can take your space.  In the event of extenuating circumstances it may be possible to transfer your booking to another class or to offer an online class, the decision to do so will be at the discretion of the teacher.

  3. You will be required you to complete a health questionnaire and disclaimer.   By booking a class you understand and accept that you consent to the sharing of your contact information with the venue's delegated responsible party in the event of any Covid related incident.

  4. Please observe the 2m distance regulations at all times whilst on site; including the car park and all external areas belonging to the venue.

  5. Wear a mask to and from the class.  Remove your mask for practice.

  6. Upon entry to the venue please use the hand sanitiser provided.

  7. No changing facilities are available, come dressed to practice and bring with you only the items you need for practice in a bag.

  8. No toilet facilities at Yatton School.  At Tickenham Village Hall please observe the 'one in one out' regulations in force.

  9. Wear shoes that can be easily removed and socks.  Remove shoes upon entry and place in your bag, walk through to hall. Go directly to a marker on floor and place your mat over, once on your mat remove your socks (pilates socks may be worn during practice).  Do not move the markers or change your position, e.g. move your mat to another location.

  10. Remain on your mat throughout practice. Place your belongings behind your mat.

  11. Please restrict conversation with other participants and the teacher.

  12. Try to avoid touching your face.  It is suggested that long hair be tied back off your face to facilitate this.

  13. Upon leaving the studio, pack up your equipment quietly, sanitise your hands upon exit.  

  14. All doors will be opened by the teacher.  Exit directly via the route indicated by the teacher.  At Tickenham exit will be via the side doors of the hall.  

  15. Avoid touching any surfaces unnecessarily.  At Tickenham, the kitchen and storage areas are not to be accessed during the period of hire by Yoga Avenue.

  16. Please do not linger to chat to the teacher or other students.  If you have any questions about the class contact the teacher via email or messaging afterwards. 

  17. It is recommended that upon returning home you change out of your yoga clothing.  Please ensure you clean your mat with a suitable disinfectant product.

  18. Please bring tissues to class.  Should you need to cough or sneeze during class then please use a tissue and discard safely.  

  19. Appropriate Ventilation will be used at venues.    

  20. Pranayama practices will be moderated to mitigate any risks associated with vapour transfer i.e. calm breathing through the nostrils only - no kapalabhati or bhastrika.

  21. No hands on assists will be offered by the teacher, instead individual verbal guidance will be given where relevant

  22. Please follow any additional instructions given by the teacher in respect of safety and conduct.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU THINK YOU MAY HAVE CONTRACTED THE VIRUS OR YOU BECOME UNWELL DURING A CLASS.

  1. ​If you, or anyone you have been in contact with, develop symptoms (see Government website for a list of these) related to Covid 19 or are diagnosed as having tested positive for the virus, within 14 days of attending any in person class, you must IMMEDIATELY inform the teacher  by the appropriate means, email, telephone or messaging.

  2. As and when Track & Trace becomes available it will be a requirement to have this on your phone and live when attending in person classes.

  3. Should you become unwell during the class let the teacher know immediately.  Your emergency contact will be called and the necessary arrangements made for you to be cared for safely and appropriately.  

  4. If you are present in a class in which someone is taken ill please follow the instructions given by the teacher without discussion.  In thiis way we can support and protect everyone and act in the best interests of all.
