"So now we come to the balance section of our practice"... does your heart rate increase as you momentarilty suspend your breath and feel the fear rising when your yoga teacher announces this in class?
Our balance naturally decreases as we age, which can be a problem because increasing instability makes us more susceptible to injury when we lose our balance and trip, stumble or fall. With a little practice however and some focus in a few key areas we can improve our balance at any age.
Moving though a sequential flow of balance challenges, we will augment awareness of the simple tools that can help us prepare for, move into, sustain and release safely from balance poses. Developing more proprioceptive awareness (where the body is in space) and connecting to the mental and physical elements that either help or hinder our ability to balance, you will take away with you a knowledge of the areas you need to focu to help you improve your balance both on an off the mat.
Suitable for all levels of practitioner you will require a yoga mat or towel and access to a wall or chair whilst still being able to see your device.
